Remembrance
published: 2008-08-27On this day, a few years ago, my grandfather died. My mother was there when it happened. She had picked her parents up from the airport, they had gone to visit family abroad. My grandfather sat in the passenger’s seat, my grandmother was in the back seat. While stopping for gas, my grandfather had a heart-attack. My mother rolled the seat back, hoping it would give him more space to breath. And so he died, his seat rolled back, his head therefore in my grandmother’s lap. All the while, my grandmother gently stroked his forehead saying it was okay.
My grandmother was a singer, my grandfather played cello in the orchestra she often sang for. This song is in his remembrance. It is my grandmother singing about "my heart’s desire."
