Why men marry bitches

published on: 10.09.2008 in: All entries

A woman who must have been about fourty-five, lay in the park reading a book entitled 'Why Men Marry Bitches'. The word 'BITCHES' was written in a bold, bright red font. The woman reading this book wore white bermudas. The colour of her toenails matched that of the word 'bitches'. As did her lipstick and […]

It’s all about…

In fact, I could fill up a whole blog on the things we writers say to each other about writing. Yet once you sit down to do it, it's best you forget everything that's ever been said.

Aspirations

I went to a reading by a fellow writer whose work I appreciate. He's very well known in Holland. His reading was about his antics as a publisher, years ago. Basically, all of that was motivated by something the Dutch call 'eerzucht' and I suppose can be translated as 'aspiration', or 'a strong drive for […]

Apparently an article was published about "me" in the Brazilian newspaper O’Globo last Saturday. Now all I have to do is be as good a writer as Kiran Desai, it seems. Well, I guess I should stop dawdling. Download artikel_oglobo_2.jpg

Wisdom comes with age

I had salt & vinegar crisps for breakfast this morning. Needless to say, I feel like crap. I can’t remember feeling as bad when doing this kind of thing as an adolescent. Quite the opposite in fact.
