Two kinds of people

published: 2010-06-02

There are people who seem to hate it when you tell them, “oh please, this is really important to me.”
It’s important the name on the cake is spelled properly. It’s important the heel to that shoe is fixed for a sponsored walk that starts at the crack of dawn. It’s important I make it on time for visiting hours. Those people will blink and think, “not my problem but yours.”
But there are also people who quietly laugh to themselves. Then give you a phone call an hour later to say, “It’s ready, I took care of it myself just to be sure.” They charge you the going rate and won’t accept a tip. And they say, “good luck.”
