Meeting
published: 2008-11-10A first meeting with your publisher about a work-in-progress novel is about as daunting as it can get. This feeling of anxiety seems commonplace among people who are ambitious or perfectionists or whatever you'd like to call it. Over the years I've heard a surprising amount of succesful lawyers, artists, researchers, actors, professors describe this strange fear that one day they will be exposed as fakes. Apparently, this fear has such a hold on Elton John that he needs an incredible amount of persuasion to get up on stage before every single concert. Anyway, it was a good meeting.
