Guilt

published: 2009-06-24

If you’re the kind of person that tends to feel guilty about things, there are two thing you can do. 1. work on guilt issues. 2. avoid doing things you’ll feel guilty about.
My sister called this morning, her son had gotten his foot stuck in the wheel of her bike. She needed to go to hospital with him to get an X-Ray. But she has two other kids, who therefore needed a babysitter. Our dad was on his way, she wasn’t sure he’d make it on time.
So I said, “Well let me know. If I don’t hear from you, I’m taking it you’re all set.”
I didn’t hear from her, but I called just in case.
“Uh dad might not be in time, but maybe my husband. Wait no, husband needs to go to a work appointment,” she said.
“All right, I’m coming,” I said and most likely my voice sounded irritated as she called back only two seconds later to say, “it’s all right. I’ve figured out a solution and anyway Dad will be here in only fifteen minutes.”
It’s only 15 minutes. Which is exactly why I should’ve been there, and not here typing this.

@T, yes, I see your point – not a very powerful entry. It’s that way isn’t it? Things that are closest to jome are hardest to put into good words.

@T, as you can see I have rewritten it!

@alief It might not have been a powerful entry in your eyes but it made me feel hesitation, fear of doing the wrong thing and this thirst for guilt. It was raw in the way it flowed out of you.
I agree things that are closest to home are hardest to put into good words. I find them hard to understand as well.
