but is it fair?

published: 2013-02-08

Do you remember the child you once were.
Is there a piece of it there.
Inside you somewhere.
Think of it,
sit with it,
close your eyes and feel it.
Its arms around your neck.
Is it fair,
I wonder.
I wonder is it fair to claim it was free.
No care in the world.
Did it ever.
Not care.
Not worry nor fret,
nor suffer regret.
Live as it was and is this life.
Which now is gone,
as it was.
As it were.
Then you blame.
Not yourself,
but that same life.
For running on and on.
And away.
Taking with it the child you once were.
Who is no longer there.
But is it fair?
