Hello! You have landed here out of curiosity and as your time is a valuable commodity, I’ll try to keep this short.
I am a writer, creative producer and lawyer, as well as a script coach. I love to inspire and connect. If you’d like to know what novels and other things I’ve written, you can have a look here.
Like for every writer, my childhood is of large influence on my outlook on storytelling. I was born in the Caribbean and traveled the globe during my childhood. Having lived in Ghana in the 80s is a huge source of inspiration. A lot of my personal writing touches on themes relating to our Dutch colonial history. I am always exploring how identity is defined in today’s global world.
I am currently working on a film adaptation of a novel ‘Plantage Wildlust’ by Tessa Leeuwsha. It is set in Suriname 1912, in the era after slave trade was abolished. I also completed the screenplay for a feature film called ‘Moroccan Wedding’ (with Mina el Hannaoui) which is supported by Dutch Film Fund and currently in post-production. The feel-good ensemble feature film about parenting which I wrote (based on an idea and characters by the producer) is now in post-production and due for release in September 2021. And there’s more…!
I am a member of the Mainstream Committee of the Dutch Film Fund and a board member to the Guild for Authors in Holland, as well as a board member of the Screenwriters Association. If you’d really like to know more about me, then send me an email and we’ll have coffee!
Oh and sometimes I write about road biking, and I love to dance.
