words

A young woman sings a song. She is alone on the stage. She fills the room with a small and quiet voice. A gentle smile rests on her lips. Her face glows. She addresses the lyrics to and unidentified him. She brings her words as if they were a gift. She misses him, even though she knows it is better this way. Even though I don’t know him, her ways drive the message straight to the heart. As if she has surrendered somehow, and stopped fighting. Is therefore confident enough to be true.
It is a reminder to me as a writer. The intensity of emotion does not always need to be packed in grand events and violent exposure. The only tool you really need is the clarity and honesty of words.
