Aliefka

Aliefka developed a course on Dutch Culture in collaboration with the John Adams Institute and The American Book Center in Amsterdam. This entertaining 2-session course is aimed at helping the newcomer understand both the highs and lows of Dutch culture. Using examples from music, film and literature, Aliefka deconstructs some of the complexities of Dutch society. Suggested reading, a.o: Amsterdam Stories (Nescio) and The Two Hearts of Kwasi Boachi (Arthur Japin). The English translations of these novels are available at The American Book Center. Aliefka first taught this course in July 2012, it has since been booked by various companies and organizations that work with expats.
